Hi!
This post is going to be a short one.
We hit a personal milestone - We now have a corpus of 10x of our yearly retirement expenses!
Here’s the current breakdown:
Corpus breakdown
Equity
Equity Mutual Funds - 4.61x
Vested RSUs (my wife’s) - 1.78x
Direct Equity - 0.16x
Total Equity - 6.55x
Debt
EPF - 2.39x
PPF - 0.91x
Debt Mutual Funds - 0.15x
Total Debt - 3.45x
I unfortunately don’t have a graph tracking the value over time. Once I have some free time I’ll get to making one and make a post.
Caveat
The “x”
we chose for this calculation is a bit lower than what we approximately spend per month today. We’re okay with this because we’re still spending to set up our home and have expenses for our baby.
Wrapping up
It has taken us about five years to get to this milestone. One thing I’m glad about is that we haven’t sacrificed on spending while investing for retirement. I’m hoping we continue to do that in the future as well.
There’s a lot to nerd out on the different aspects of handling my retirement corpus which I’ll try to explain over future posts.
Until next time!
Congratulations!
